Ownership of Student Works
You own your creative work - including original research and papers prepared for class assignments.
The USU Faculty Code stipulates:
- “Students generally own their own creative work- including original research and papers prepared for class. USU policy on student ownership and exceptions is described in Policy 327 (Section 1.2(4)).”
- "Faculty members do not plagiarize the work of students. When faculty members and students work together, appropriate credit is given to the students. Faculty members do not limit or curtail the right of any student to publish or otherwise communicate the result of the student's own independent scholarly activities." See USU Faculty Code section 403.3 (3.1(5)).
