A filled state STM image of patterned Si(100)-2x1 monohydride surface decorated by Al. The Al atoms falling on the H-terminated surface form round clusters, while those falling on the bare region form ad-dimer rows. From the number densities of the clusters in the middle region, one can compare the Al diffusion length on these two different surfaces. This image is 80x80nm².
