USU PARKING CONTRIBUTES TO AG TECH MEMORIAL FUND
LOGAN — Like so many on campus, Utah State University's Parking and Transportation Services employees are grieving for the eight students and instructor lost in the Sept. 26 van accident. To honor the victims and survivors, the office is donating $5 from each parking permit sold and each citation paid during the week of Oct. 17-21 to USU’s Agricultural Technology Memorial Scholarship Fund.
"We asked ourselves what we could do to help," said Lisa Leishman, director of USU’s Parking and Transportation Services. “We felt that joining with the university community to support the memorial fund would be the best way to honor the memories of the students lost and show support for their loved ones.”
Leishman added that the fundraising effort is a good opportunity for people with outstanding citations to wipe the slate clean. “No one enjoys paying a parking ticket,” she said. “But knowing that a portion of your fine is helping others may ease the blow.”
