Members of the media who do not have a parking pass should contact Public Relations and Marketing at (435) 797-1351 to coordinate parking while on campus. Media passes allow media to park in any faculty, staff, or student permit lots, as well as any Utah State operated pay lots. Media passes may not be used to park in any metered spaces, spaces marked "service vehicle only," or spaces marked for people with disabilities. Violators may be ticketed or towed.

Please contact Public Relations and Marketing to make special arrangements for large media vehicles.

Photography and filming for Reporters

Utah State University is a public campus, and as such, permission for news media to film in public areas is not required as long as there is no disruption to the educational process. Filming in classrooms, libraries, laboratories, residence halls, and other locations is restricted and accommodations should be made through Public Relations and Marketing.

Photography and Filming for Commercial use

Persons wishing to commercially film or photograph Utah State University must coordinate with Utah State University Public Relations & Marketing prior to filming or photographing. Please contact Public Relations and Marketing at (435) 797-1351 to coordinate.


Members of the media visiting campus have free limited access to Wi-Fi through Utah State University’s “blue zone” wifi network. If you are not directed to bluezone.usu.edu right away you can type in the address manually. Once the connection comes up you will need to click “guest access”. Please visit the USU IT Wireless Network Guest Access page for additional information or if you experience any issues connecting to our network.

Crisis Communication

At the time of any University emergency, all official statements, announcements, or interviews relating to that emergency should be coordinated through Public Relations & Marketing. The campus community will be notified through a variety of mechanisms including email, voicemail, SMS, digital signage, Utah State’s social media platforms and on the University homepage at usu.edu. Public Records Request

Reporters and other members of the public who seek information via Utah Code§ 63G-2-204 (GRAMA) should contact USU Public Relations and Marketing. Please provide a written request containing the requester’s name, mailing address, daytime telephone number and a description of the record requested that identifies the record with reasonable specificity. Please submit your request to ucom@usu.edu. Public Relations and Marketing will release records, when authorized, following a review of the records by the Office of General Counsel.

Use of Logos

Utah State University’s Visual Identity Program provides use and directions for reproducing the university logo. In addition, it provides acceptable marks for secondary uses and includes the official university color palette, typography, stationery system, and approval process for all university marketing communications.
