A Special Choir Performance at USU |
On September 22, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square gave its first performance in Logan’s Newel and Jean Daines Concert Hall. The matinee and evening concerts garnered rave reviews. The highlight of the night was the rousing final number, an enthusiastic performance of “The Scotsman,” complete with arm waves and cow milkings. Absent was the usual strain to reach the song’s last note—the choir nailed it! The number resonated even more because it was performed under the direction of our own Craig Jessop, Dean of the Caine College of the Arts and former director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, 1999-2008. The choir often invites a popular guest director to lead a number or two. The choir first performed at the venue in 1967, at the dedication of the then Kent Concert Hall.

Calling the Aggie Clan for this Year’s Family Reunion |
Last year at homecoming, the USU Alumni Association launched a new Friday night event—fans loved it! This year, we’re doing it again! Gather your clan and join us for the 2nd Annual Aggie Family Reunion: 6:00 pm, Friday, October 12, at the Aggie Recreation Center. All are invited! Festivities include dinner, games, stories, music, photos, fun with Big Blue and Aggie Ice Cream. After dinner, join us for the presentation of our 2018 USU Homecoming Honorees.
Aggie Greatness at Homecoming
Homecoming week is about reconnecting with old friends, revisiting Aggie traditions, and instilling those traditions in future Aggies. It’s also a time to recognize contributions and achievements of our fellow Aggies. This year, we are pleased to honor several alumni who have led lives of service, achievement and philanthropy to advance Utah State University. We invite you to read their bios online. |

Aggie Tailgates & Watch Parties! |
Join USU Athletics and the USU Alumni Association at every football game this season for Aggie pre-game parties! Home or away, every pre-game party features food, fun, friends, and Aggie gear! Home tailgate parties are free, begin two hours before kickoff, and are held on the west parking lot at Maverik Stadium (look for the Alumni tailgate trailer). Away game parties (not always tailgates) charge a nominal fee, and locations vary.
Can’t make it to the big game in Provo this year? We’ve got you covered! Join us Friday, October 5, in downtown Logan for the USU vs. BYU game. We’ve partnered with Logan Downtown Alliance to bring the game to you. See our Aggies crush the Cougs on a 70-foot outdoor screen as you enjoy free snacks! The watch party begins at 6:00 p.m. behind Cache Valley Bank (100 N. and Main) with food vendors and a live band. Game begins at 7:00 pm.

Can’t make it to an event? Don’t despair, host your own! Many cities across the state and the nation have local Facebook groups who can help organize Aggie gatherings. You can also contact the USU Alumni Association for help in alerting local alumni about your party. Contact alumni@usu.edu to get something started!

Alumni – Student Mentorship Banquet |
Over 300 students and alumni gathered on the USU campus this month for USU’s inaugural
Bridging Banquet, an opportunity for graduate students to learn from some of our most accomplished alumni. Alumni participants will continue to coach students who are in their final semesters at USU, helping them to establish key industry connections and refine their resume-writing and interviewing skills. Students learned and laughed with Kordell Norton, a renowned networking and charisma coach, and they were inspired by the networking success stories of Andrew Kenney ’18 and Brady Murray ’05. Watch the video.
The banquet was the first in a series of annual networking opportunities available to students at USU. If you are interested in mentoring our talented students, please let us know: alumni@usu.edu.
