Nominate an outstanding peer advisor for Peer Advisor of the Year for this annual USU award to be given each May.
Criteria
- Served as a peer advisor for at least two semesters.
- Demonstrates competency in using advising approaches and strategies.
- Understands expected outcomes of academic advising.
- Knowledge of curriculum, degree programs, and other academic requirements.
- Seeks and shares information about campus and community resources that support student success
- Understands Degree Works and Appointment Manager advising tools.
- Creates rapport and builds academic advising relationships.
- Communicates in an inclusive and respectful manner.
- Plans and conducts successful advising interactions.
- Engages in continuous assessment and development of their growth as a peer advisor.
Nomination Process
Supervisors provide a 1-2 page nomination letter describing the impact the peer advisor has had on students and how they meet the criteria. Nominated peer advisors are then invited to provide a personal statement describing how they meet the criteria.
