Schedule an Appointment - Communication, Organizations, & Influence Focus Area

The Communication, Organization & Influence Focus Area is for students who work well with others, have effective communication skills, make decisions easily, lead effectively, and can solve problems. Students in this focus area may value interpersonal connections, teamwork, clarity, empathy, leadership, and innovation.  They may enjoy engaging in dialogue, public speaking, conflict resolution, managing, writing, content creation, and media analysis. They may consider themselves to be articulate, empathetic, creative, detail-oriented and culturally aware.  They often thrive in dynamic, interactive settings and could tend to lead or manage others to meet organizational goals or create economic growth.

We recommend USU 1010 for students in their first semester of college. You should also consider taking ENGL 1010 (or a CL2 course if you have credit for ENGL 1010).

Exploratory: Communication & Influence Track

You may be interested in a communication focused major if you value working with people, facilitating connections, critical and creative thinking, writing, information gathering, influence and public relations.

This is a pathway for individuals with aptitude for communication, creative thinking, decisiveness, and leadership. Many students in this area enjoy working with people and may consider themselves to be energetic, inventive, persuasive, and self-assured.

All majors will require a math course, please talk to your academic advisor to know which course you should take and when you should take it.
