These ungraded Canvas courses offer students access to exclusive Pre-Health materials and resouces, as well as a more thorough understanding of how to become a competitve applicant for these health profession graduate programs. Students are welcome to join any and all courses that align with their goals, and you may leave at any time. Meet with a Peer Advisor
Peer Advisors are Juniors and Seniors who are approaching application to professional graduate schools. They help students get started by providing welcome and information sessions on how to:
- Navigate the general preparation needed for health-related graduate programs
- Build extracurricular involvement
- Create a Degree Works plan with prerequisite courses that match your goals
Regardless of their own paths, our Peer Advisors are thoroughly trained and knowledgeable on all health professions.
Izzy is a sophomore at Utah State and studying Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences with a minor in chemistry. She aspires to become a doctor and wants to continue her education by attending medical school. Her goal is to become an Emergency Room Doctor or an OB/GYN. This past summer, Izzy assisted a graduate student with her thesis and tested many of her samples. She also earned her phlebotomy certificate and learned fundamental skills in the medical field.
Zach is a pre-medical student majoring in English (Creative Writing). He loves writing music and poetry, playing spikeball, and cuddling with his new puppy--Luna. He also enjoys learning, teaching, and asking questions about the world. Currently, he is also working as a Supplemental Instructor and Writing Fellow here on campus.
Brooklyn is majoring in social work in addition to taking medical school prerequisites. Right now her goal is to become a surgeon, but she's remaining open to other specialties. She loves a good Dr. Pepper, listening to true crime podcasts, and researching genealogy.
Jackson is in his third year at Utah State studying Biochemistry. After graduation, he plans to pursue an MD-PhD so that he can work as a cardiothoracic surgeon and contribute to medical research. He grew up as the middle of three boys in Bountiful, Utah. Jackson also enjoys rock climbing, paddle boarding, watching movies, and game nights with friends.

Meet with a Health Professions/Pre-Health Advisor
After meeting with our Peer Advisors, students then meet with the Health Professions/Pre-Health Advisor to begin more indepth preparation for getting into your desired health profession graduate program, including:
- Guidance through the application process, timeline and strategies for success
- Providing feedback on personal statement and application experiences
- Staging mock interviews
