Grassroots Powdersurfing

Grassroots Powdersurfing is a company that designs and handcrafts Powsurfers. These “surfboards for the snow” are crafted locally in Jeremy Jensen’s shop in Logan, Utah and shipped to customers and retailers all over the world. Just like surfboards and skateboards, powsurfers are ridden completely binding free with no physical attachment to the board. While the look of this type of “snowboard” has roots that date back to some of the earliest experimental snowboards, these boards are unique in that they are designed and engineered to be ridden completely binding free and hands free. Jensen coined the terms “Powdersurfing” and “Powsurfing” to describe his style of riding that was born in the mountains of Northern Utah in 2007. His creation of powsurfers combined with his eye-catching videography and photography of the boards in action gave birth to a new movement in the world of snowsports. Since Grassroots inception, this soulful mode of self-expression has grown from a small niche in a small town to a worldwide force that has opened minds and changed perceptions on how people ride snow covered mountains. Jensen’s board designs and philosophy continue to make a clear impact on today’s ski and snowboard design, inspiring designers to think further outside the box and visualize possibilities under new eyes.
