World Mental Health Day
October 10th, 2022

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted and exacerbated the global mental health crisis, fueling short- and long-term stresses and undermining the mental health of millions. Estimates put the rise in both anxiety and depressive disorders at more than 25% during the first year of the pandemic. At the same time, mental health services were severely disrupted and the treatment gap for mental health conditions has widened.

Stigma and discrimination continue to be a barrier to social inclusion and access to the right care. But, we can all play our part in increasing awareness about which preventive mental health interventions work.

World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to do that collectively. The Office of Human Resources has partnered with Campus Recreation for USU’s participation in World Mental Health Day on Monday, October 10.

Please join our Aggie community in celebrating. Wear the lime green clothes we know you have tucked away in your closet, or a World Mental Health Day t-shirt, and participate in activities. Let’s show our support in making mental health a priority.
