Biography

Marc has extensive training and experience in physical and computational chemistry. His early focus produced significant contributions in the fields of polymer morphology, permeability, and kinetics. Marc also tackled problems in transport theory, developing algorithms for calculating the diffusivity of macromolecules/nanoparticles in solution and the drag on aerosol particles in the atmosphere, particularly on particles of complex shape. Now active in solving air quality problems of the Intermountain West, Marc leads the effort to produce reliable computer models of winter ozone formation in the Uintah Basin. For this work, Marc’s team has gained research support from Deseret Power Electric Cooperative, Utah Energy Research Triangle, Utah Division of Air Quality, Bureau of Land Management, Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America, Uintah Impact Mitigation Special Service District, and others. Marc has an undergraduate degree from the University of Utah and a Ph.D. from Dartmouth, and is an Emeritus Research Professor in USU's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
