Lunch & Learn - Deskercise! Taking Care of Your Body During the Workday

USU Be Well and ComPsych, USU's Employee Assistance Program, offer a lunch and learn on how to add exercise into your day at your desk. Have you ever felt tired and sluggish at work? Do you notice tension in your neck and back pain in the middle of your workday? Spending many of our waking hours sitting at a desk can lead to consequences for our health. However, it can be difficult to find time to exercise! This training will discuss the importance of not being completely sedentary all day, and review practical, easy ways to take care of your body while working a desk job. Presentation will be recorded by ComPsych and available after the event using the registration link. *Attendance and participation in this event will qualify as an activity for the Be Well Rewards program.*

WILD 2450 & USU Wildland Fire Club S130 - Wildland Firefighter Training Field Exercise

Learn what it takes to become a Wildland Firefighter as part of the WILD 2450 - Wildland Fire Operations course. Field Exercise is part of the ongoing S130 - Wildland Firefighter Training. One does not need to be in the S130 training to participate in the field exercise. Held in conjunction with the USU Wildland Fire Club and a number of wildland fire agencies will be helping with the training.

First Aid for Your Research Data

Can’t find data? Can’t get the file to open properly? Or is your data so messy, it seems impossible to analyze? The first part of this workshop will review some common issues and how to fix them using simple, accessible tools. The second part will be an open clinic to help you with whatever symptoms you are encountering, so please bring your sick spreadsheets and painful error messages!

This workshop covers the basics and importance of open access publishing, different open access models, and how USU supports open access. We discuss how USU Researchers can access open access funding through the Library, including publisher agreements and the Library Open Access Fund. Finally, we cover copyright basics and share key authors’ rights resources to protect your research as it’s disseminated throughout the research ecosystem.

If you're looking to improve your resume or your cover letter writing, you are invited to join us for a free, live Resume Critique & Insights Workshop. We will have experts on hand from Utah State University Extension and the Utah Department of Workforce Services to review and critique a resume as you watch and then review some of the most important resume writing skills and guidelines including: - Targeting your resume to fit the job description - Quantifying your accomplishments and experience - Resume formatting, look, and feel - and more! Have a copy of your resume available to take notes you'll also learn how to look at your resume alongside a job description and tweak it enough to make it through applicant tracking filters.
