Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths; and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent.These applied experiences may be paid or unpaid and, if approved and supervised by a USU academic college or office, taken for academic credit.

How do I get Academic Credit for an Internship?

Many USU departments offer academic credit for an internship that could apply toward your major and/or elective credit.

  1. Before beginning the internship experience, reach out to your faculty internship coordinator (listed below) or academic advisor to determine if your experience will qualify for academic credit.
  2. Individual departments require different deliverables for their internship course. Be sure to communicate with your course instructor to know what and when specific requirements are due.
