Bio
Dale Wagner, PhD, FACSM, is a professor of exercise physiology in the Kinesiology and Health Science Department at Utah State University and a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. He is the lab director for the Body Composition and Exercise Physiology Labs at USU. His research interests include methods of body composition assessment and exercise in extreme environments. He has authored 3 textbooks and over 80 peer-reviewed research publications. Dr. Wagner earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Slippery Rock University and Temple University, respectively, and his PhD from the University of New Mexico. He holds certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is the past president of both ASEP and the Southwest Chapter of ACSM. Additionally, he served as an associate editor for Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport and on the research council for the Wilderness Medical Society.In his spare time, Dr. Wagner enjoys cycling, mountaineering, kayaking, and international travel. He is an accomplished mountaineer having climbed the 7 summits (highest point on each continent).
