Bio

Dr. Damon Cann is an award-winning researcher and teacher who is currently Professor and Head in the Department of Political Science at Utah State University. His book on congressional campaign finance, "Sharing the Wealth," won the 2009 Richard Fenno, Jr., Prize for the best book on legislative studies published in 2008 (awarded by the American Political Science Association’s Legislative Studies Section). His 2015 book, "Voters' Verdicts," won the 2016 Virginia Gray Book Award for the best book on state politics or policy (awarded by the American Political Science Association's State Politics & Policy Section). His articles on have been published in a variety of journals, including Journal of Politics, Political Research Quarterly, American Politics Research, State Politics & Policy Quarterly, and Public Choice. His commentary on politics has been sought by a range of print, radio, and television outlets, including the Washinton Post, Salt Lake Tribune, Axios, KSL, and the Salt Lake media market's ABC affiliate. A major advocate of academic public engagement, Dr. Cann previously served as Mayor of North Logan City.
