Employee wellness classes are available virtually and in-person to all USU benefit-eligible employees and spouses/partners across the state, and Community Members (anyone over the age of 18 who is not a current, benefit-eligible USU employee or spouse). Benefit eligible employees and their spouses/partners receive a discounted price as a part of their USU benefits package.

Core Strength

This class is specifically designed to strengthen core muscles including the lower back, pelvis, and abdomen, through a variety of exercises that improve posture, balance, flexibility, and overall stability. Suitable for all fitness levels.

Do not let the name "Water Aerobics" fool you! This is a high-intensity, low-impact, high-calorie burn class. This class is created for all different age groups, physical conditions, and abilities. We do many different toning and strengthening exercises. It is extremely helpful for anyone who is feeling "burned out" and needing a change of routine. Not only does exercising in water reduce injury by protecting and cushioning your joints, but also helps with blood circulation. We use many different exercise equipment specifically made for water. Water reduces injuries, especially back pain, and also allows your joints more range of motion

Functional Fitness

This class is designed for those that want to push themselves physically in less than an hour! Each workout will provide a combination of cardiovascular, plyometric, and bodyweight movements and can be personalized to meet your fitness needs and goals. Whether you are an avid backcountry skier trying to stay conditioned or a relatively new student of fitness that wants to be tested in various aspects, this class will demand everything that you can bring each day to class!

Pilates

This class will teach you the basics of mat work Pilates. As we go through the progression of exercises, we will work on proper breathing and posture. Each participant will learn how to increase control of muscle movements by gaining a greater sense of mind-body awareness. In addition to increased control, core strength and stability will also improve. We will focus on working all parts of the body equally to create better muscle symmetry for improved balance and coordination, better posture, and decreased stress and back pain. If you are looking for a class to help relieve mid-day stress while still increasing your muscle tone and core strength, then this is the class for you.

In this class we explore a variety of styles of Yoga, focusing on breath, alignment, and awareness.  By combining mindful awareness techniques with traditional yoga postures, you will learn to develop your own practice.  Your physical strength and flexibility will increase as your peace of mind grows and deepens.  You will leave class energized and rejuvenated, carrying the benefits of yoga off your mat and into the world.

Indoor Cycling

Come and be challenged with a great cardio workout! Every skill level, age, and ability is invited. The workouts and the music are varied to keep things exciting, get your heart rate up and sometimes leave your legs wobbly. Everyone is challenged at the right level for them through personalized encouragement and feedback. You will also receive help with bike fit, riding form, and intensity levels. Whether you are a new cyclist or an experienced rider, this class will help you feel comfortable and gain the confidence to push your limits in the studio or on the road!

Vinyasa Yoga
