SPRING SEMESTER: January - May/June (Environmental Education)
SUMMER SEMESTER:  June to August (Sea Turtle Conservation)
FALL SEMESTER: August-November (Sea Turtle Conservation)

The Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Romelia is located near Montezuma, on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.   The mission of the organization is:  

"to rally support for long-term sustainable strategies to restore and preserve precious wildlife and land. Utilzing prime oceanfront generously donated to the program for stewardship, we have a singular opportunity to offer the environment a new beginning, sea turtles a fighting chance, and our visitors a window into the natural world for generations to come."


This internship program is for environmental enthusiasts who are inspired by experience though hands-on research and conservation efforts. Located near Montezuma, on the Nicoya Peninsula, you will experience living and working in a remote jungle.  From June to November, you can help with sea turtle conservation efforts and research.  From January to June, you would help with the refuge's environmental education efforts and programs.

Requirements

Travel and Internship Requirements
  • minimum 21 years of age 
  •  Proficiency in English, although some Spanish is helpful
Academic Requirements
  • Must be a student in good academic standing
  • Must enroll in 3-12 IOGP course credits

Costs

Not included:
Airfare
Tuition and insurance

Internship Includes: 
Housing (single bed in mixed dorms), rustic and remote -- no wifi available
Board (3 meals a day, chef on site)
