Jonah Newton

Biography

Jonah is a lifelong actor, singer, and pianist from West Valley City, Utah. He is a graduating senior in USU’s BFA Acting Program joining the Lyric Rep for his fourth consecutive summer. He is a three-time Caine Scholar and the 2026 Utah State Theatre Department Student of the Year.

Repeat offenders in the audience may recognize him for his singing from Sh-Boom, his comedic chops as Sandy Tyrell from Hay Fever, or how strappingly he wore lederhosen in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure.

Favorite Utah State University roles include Dr. Caius in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Mr. Darcy in The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley, Dr. Seward in Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really, King Charles II and others in Or, and Ed in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.
