Biography

Angelique Antoinette Strothers is a versatile actress, vocalist, and writer based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a strong foundation in both dramatic and musical theater. She has performed extensively with New Horizon Theater in productions such as Sistas: The Musical, Nacirema Society, Chicken & Biscuits, Get Ready, and Blues is the Roots, portraying a wide range of characters across both comedic and dramatic repertoire. Her work reflects a consistent ability to bring presence, emotional depth, and grounded authenticity to each role she embodies.

Her additional performance credits include work with Demaskus, Herron Productions, Sould Out Productions, and MBC Drama Ministry, where she has appeared in productions such as The Bold & The Sanctified (and its sequel), No Way Out, The Company You Keep, and What A Difference A Stay Makes. She also appeared in Porgy & Bess with the Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh, expanding her experience within classical and musical theater spaces. Her on-screen work includes the short film Per-Sep-Shuhn and televised performance appearances such as Praise Poet Tree.

A naturally developed vocalist with an alto foundation and the ability to extend into soprano and tenor ranges, Angelique brings musicality, instinct, and emotional precision to her performances, allowing her to move fluidly across genres including gospel, jazz, and contemporary music.

In addition to her work as a performer, Angelique is an accomplished writer and director, having developed original productions including Just-Us Is Served, Cheaters, The Real Housewives of the Bible, and Desperate Measures. Her upcoming stage production When Lions Speak continues her commitment to impactful storytelling, alongside her screenplay Who’s Got the Light, further expanding her creative voice into film. Her background in psychology informs her approach to character work, grounding each performance in depth, nuance, and authenticity.
