About The Athletics Program

Spectrum viewpoint of the fans during basketball game

Utah State University’s athletic program stands as a model of excellence in both competition and the classroom. Across 17 NCAA Division I sports, Aggie athletes compete with heart and hustle. From conference titles and NCAA Tournament runs in men’s and women’s basketball to dominant performances in soccer, track & field, and volleyball, Utah State athletes continue to push the standard of success.

In the 2023-24 academic year, USU teams captured a school-record four Mountain West championships including regular season crowns in men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and men’s tennis, plus a tournament title in women’s soccer while marking historic postseason appearances across multiple sports.

Equally impressive is the academic commitment of Utah State’s student-athletes. The 343 competitors in fall 2025 combined for a record-high cumulative GPA of 3.52 and a term GPA of 3.59, continuing a remarkable streak of 47 consecutive terms with a combined GPA above 3.0 that stretches back to 2002. During that term, 87% of athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA, and dozens were honored on the Dean’s List.

Utah State also shines in NCAA academic measures, with nine programs earning perfect APR scores of 1,000 for the 2023-24 year and a graduation success rate (GSR) well above the national average, including perfect six-year outcomes for several sports. This culture of balance, pursuing championships while earning degrees, defines the Aggie student-athlete experience and underscores Utah State Athletics’ mission to develop leaders who excel in competition, in class, and in the community.
