Meet the Provost & Executive Vice President, Chris D. Corcoran
Effective July 1, 2026, Chris Corcoran was appointed as the provost and executive vice president of Utah State University. As the university's chief academic officer, he provides leadership for USU's academic programs and works with faculty, staff, students, and campus leaders to support the university's land-grant mission.
A proud Aggie, Corcoran has spent more than 25 years at Utah State. He joined the faculty in 1999 after earning his doctorate in biostatistics from Harvard University and has held various academic leadership roles throughout his career. Before becoming provost, he was department head of the Data Analytics and Information Systems department in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. He also previously served as department head of the Mathematics and Statistics department in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Corcoran earned his bachelor's degree in statistics, with a minor in computer science, from Utah State University. His research has focused on statistical methods and data analytics, and throughout his career he has been recognized for excellence in both teaching and research.
As provost, Corcoran oversees Academic Affairs and works closely with the university's colleges, statewide campuses, and academic support units to strengthen teaching, expand research and creative activity, and enhance student success. He believes Utah State's greatest strength is its people and is committed to supporting faculty, staff, and students as they advance the university's land-grant mission.
Throughout his career at USU, Corcoran has helped develop academic programs, mentored students, and served in leadership positions across the university. His experience as both a faculty member and administrator provides him with a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing higher education.
