Faculty Searches
Searches for new faculty at Utah State University must follow USU Policy, procedures, and best practices. The faculty hiring handbook and other resources to guide the faculty appointment process are available on the Human Resources Hiring Toolkit website.
For approval from the Office of the Provost & Executive Vice President, follow these steps for searches involving tenure-track, term appointment, temporary and visiting faculty members.
Filling an Open Position
When filling an open position, complete a Faculty Search Request in ServiceNow and include the following:
- Position announcement to include the rank(s) considered, whether the position is a tenure-track or a term appointment, AY or FY appointment, location of position, and the anticipated start date.
- Proposed role statement (for tenure-track or term appointments only)
Creating a New Position
When creating a new position - complete a New Position Request in ServiceNow and include the following:
- Position announcement to include the rank(s) considered, whether the position is a tenure-track or a term appointment, AY or FY appointment, location of position, and the anticipated start date. If the position is temporary, state the length of the term.
- Proposed role statement (for tenure-track or term appointments only)
Approval
Once the ServiceNow request has been approved, the department may move forward with the search.
