Lieutenant Colonel Andreas 'Baron' Wesemann, USAF (retired), had a remarkable career spanning from 1985 to 2014, where he excelled as a deployed Combat Rescue Squadron Commander, Instructor Pilot in five different military aircraft, academic instructor at the United States Air Force Academy, and senior military advisor to the Air Component Commander. Throughout his distinguished service, he not only saved lives but also mentored the next generation of aviators while serving in various capacities across the globe. Colonel Wesemann achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot upon graduating and commissioning from the United States Air Force Academy in 1991. His journey began in 1981 with the Civil Air Patrol, where he now holds the esteemed position of Utah Wing Commander.
After retiring from his 27-year military flying career, Professor Baron returned from the sky to become a full-time instructor at USU. As the Associate Department Head, he has been instrumental in expanding the program to over 800 students across three campuses, demonstrating his commitment to excellence in education and leadership.
In addition to teaching aviation students The Art and Science of Flight, Baron has taught over 3,000 students in the last 11 years, and was selected as the Top Professor at Utah State University is 2020. He actively seeks out opportunities to engage with students both in and out of the classroom, starting 6 new clubs and rejuvenating another, he focuses on helping students find their WHY, and preparing to enter their chosen career as an aviation professional on day one. He is a sought-after speaker and mentor in the community.
