T. Scott Findley

Scott Findley has served as an economics professor in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University since 2009. He earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts & Sciences, a B.S. in Philosophy & Political Science, an M.A. in Political Science, and an M.S. in Applied Economics, all from Utah State University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Colorado State University. Dr. Findley’s research focuses on the effects of behavioral biases on economic and financial decision making over the life cycle.
Scott was honored to receive an appointment as a Research Fellow of Netspar (Network for Studies on Pensions, Aging and Retirement), which is sponsored by the government of The Netherlands in cooperation with several private pension providers and universities across Europe. He was also named a Research Fellow of CESifo, a joint partnership between the Center for Economic Studies and the Ifo Institute, headquartered in Munich, Germany. He served from 2016-2022 as the Editor-in-Chief of Public Finance Review.
Scott has a deep passion for teaching students and has taught 12 unique courses in economics and finance. He also cares deeply about the curriculum and has served as chair of the economics curriculum committee, as a member of the Huntsman School’s curriculum committee, the university’s general education committee, the general education subcommittee on social sciences, and the steering committee over general education reform within the area of American Institutions. Scott is also a frequent visitor to local high schools, supervising concurrent enrollment instruction in economics, giving guest lectures on economics and finance topics, and holding informal college information sessions for the students each academic term.
