Shannon Cromwell

Shannon Cromwell is an Extension Professor at Utah State University with more than 21 years of experience in Extension and over 14 years serving Sanpete County. She is nationally recognized for her leadership in youth development and family programming and is one of only fifteen appointed mentors for the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (NEAFCS). Shannon contributes extensively to professional scholarship as a manuscript and proposal reviewer, external evaluator, and associate editor for FastTrack Publications. Her service spans national, state, and university levels, including extensive committee leadership. She has served on more than 30 Tenure and Promotion Advisory Committees, chairing 10, and has served as an elected Extension Faculty Senator, providing critical guidance in faculty governance and advancement. Her dedication to professional development and excellence has been recognized with numerous honors, including the 2024 NEAFCS Continued Excellence Award.
In addition to her leadership roles, Shannon has made a significant impact through innovative programming and resource development. She has secured more than $4.9 million in funding to support youth and family initiatives, including the Sanpete County 4-H Afterschool Program, a statewide model serving approximately 150 youth daily. Her work has strengthened family education, improved community well-being, and expanded access to high-quality programming through curricula, scholarly publications, and outreach platforms reaching broad audiences. Known for her integrity, mentorship, and collaborative approach, Shannon consistently elevates colleagues and programs, exemplifying the highest standards of service and leadership within USU Extension and beyond.
