Resident Assistant Positions

The Residence Life Program has closed our Primary Application Process for the Residence Assistant Position at this time. However, we always have a need to keep a list of people who are interested in becoming a Resident Assistant. For this reason, we have now opened an Alternates List Resident Assistant Application.

As positions are vacated between now and September 2022 supervisors will continue to use the Primary Applicant List as these are applicants that have been observed and reviewed already. But from year to year we end up needing the additional Alternates List to fill opening position. The timing for this process is unpredictable and interviews are not guaranteed. Applications will be reviewed by supervisors as the need arises and contacted for interviews on a case by case basis.

USU Residence Life does require Resident Assistants to live in the communities they supervise. If applying, you must be able to move into on-campus housing during Fall Semester 2022 through Spring Semester 2023. We will not be able to help applicants cancel an off-campus housing contracts if they are offered a position.

Minimum Requirements for Resident Assistants

  • Full-time USU Student Status
    • All RA candidates and current RAs must be full-time USU students
      • Family Housing RAs must have at least one spouse as a full time student.
    • Full-time status is defined as 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester or 6 graduate credit hours per semester
  • Maintain 2.5 GPA
    • All RA candidates and current RAs are required to maintain a semester and cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5. After one semester of failure to meet academic performance standards, RAs will be placed on job probation. Two consecutive semesters of a GPA below 2.5 will affect continued employability or rehire status.
  • Family Housing RA Applicants must:
    • Qualify to live in family housing on campus
      • Be Legally married to their partner
      • Or, Have Children
      • Or, be legally married to their partner and have children
    • If married, both spouses in a marriage apply and be employed together

All Residence Life Employees are Responsible Reporter Employees and are expected to report on Title IX, Clery Act, and Discrimination incidents they become aware of.
