Resident Assistant Positions

The Residence Life Program as opened our application for the Resident Assistant (RA) position for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applicants who complete the application process before November 12th, 2025 will also be considered for any position that opens for the Spring 2026 semester. All other applications must be completed by the end of day on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026

Minimum Requirements for Resident Assistants

  • Full-time USU Student Status
    • All RA candidates and current RAs must be full-time USU students
      • Family Housing RAs must have at least one spouse as a full time student.
    • Full-time status is defined as 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester or 6 graduate credit hours per semester
  • GPA
    • Candidates must have above a 2.0 cumulative GPA in order to be considered for the RA role.
    • All RA candidates and current RAs should strive to maintain a cumulative and semesterly Grade Point Average of 2.5. After one semester of failure to meet academic performance standards, RAs will be placed on job probation. Two consecutive semesters of a GPA below 2.0 will affect continued employability or rehire status.
  • Experience with College Life
    • As the RA role requires assisting residents through their transition to campus life, RAs must have experienced their own on campus transition to campus life, and have a minimum of 1 semester of an on-campus college experience by the position start date
  • • Family Housing RA Applications will open in February 2026. Applicants must:
    • Qualify to live in family housing on campus
      • Be Legally married to their partner
      • Or, Have Children
      • Or, be legally married to their partner and have children
    • If married, both spouses in a marriage apply and be employed together
    • At least one of the spouses must be a full time student, but not both.

All Residence Life Employees are Responsible Reporter Employees and are expected to report on Title IX, Clery Act, and Discrimination incidents they become aware of.
