Building a Personal Scoreboard

Lexie Richins Location Icon CIB 101

When we think of rockstar employees, we tend to think of those who consistently do what is asked of them and deliver on their goals. But when change unexpectedly happens, many of these employees get stuck or look to their leaders for direction. I want to take a look at impact players – employees who jump to action when change happens. Look for opportunities for growth both during times of change and during “fair weather.” Understand their supervisor/team’s priorities and sets their sights on how their work pushes the vision forward over what their to-do list is. Finding the metrics that show their supervisors and teams that the employee is winning and displaying positive impact to team/department/university. Seeking opportunities to increase their value to feed engagement outside of money (focusing on what they can control vs what supervisors can give them): learning developments, seeking work projects that they are passionate about, etc.
