LOGAN — The newly unified College of Arts and Sciences at Utah State University will celebrate its first-ever ArtSci Week with a series of events designed to highlight the college’s people, programs and impact while inviting the broader university community to join the celebration.
Running March 23-28, ArtSci Week marks an important milestone following the merger that brought together multiple academic areas under the College of Arts and Sciences. The week will feature activities ranging from academic showcases and networking opportunities to performances, social events and campus traditions.
“The week is exciting as it is the first of its kind,” said Humanities and Social Sciences Senator Ryley Cottrell. “It will be a week focused on celebrating all the things that make our college amazing.”
Many ArtSci Week activities are open to members of the wider USU community, offering opportunities to connect, learn and celebrate together.
The week officially begins March 23. Activities that day include “Cup of Joe with Joe” — a chance to enjoy a treat alongside ArtSci Dean Joseph Ward — from 9-11 a.m., followed by an official kick-off parade at 3 p.m. The parade route will pass a variety of Arts and Sciences facilities on the Logan campus, from the Fine Arts Center on the east side of campus to the Eccles Science Learning Center on the northwest corner of the Quad. The parade concludes with a kick-off party at 3:30 p.m.
Throughout the week, several events invite students and the larger USU community to engage with Arts and Sciences programs and one another, including:
- Concert for a Cause at 7:30 p.m. March 23 in the TSC Ballroom.
- Soda with Soldiers at 3 p.m. March 24 in the TSC International Lounge.
- ArtSci 20x20 from 5-7 p.m. March 24 in the TSC Ballroom.
- Collage Night from 7-9 p.m. March 24 in the TSC International Lounge.
- Cereal with the Senators at 9 a.m. March 25 on the TSC Patio.
- Mentorship Snacktivity at 9:30 a.m. March 26 in the TSC Hub Hallway.
The celebration concludes with signature events like the ArtSci Bash on Friday evening and ArtSci PoBev + Art Sale on March 28.
“For me personally, helping plan these events has been about facilitating moments where students can feel genuinely seen and proud of where they belong,” said Science Senator Breanna Cahoon. “When our colleges merged, I think a lot of students wondered what that would mean for their identity on campus. It is a celebration of everything that makes this college unique: the curiosity, the creativity, and the idea that science, humanities and the arts have more in common than people might think.”
Other events throughout the week are designed to honor achievements within the college community. The college will host its first ArtSci Awards Ceremony on March 25, recognizing outstanding contributions from students, faculty, and staff. These awards are in addition to other events during ArtSci Week aimed at celebrating alumni and donors who have supported student scholarships and college programs.
On Thursday, March 26, students can connect with professionals during Networking Night. This event brings ArtSci students and alumni together to discuss career aspirations and professional success. Advance registration is required.
USU’s community is also invited to participate in two public events in the days leading up to ArtSci Week. The Nonprofit Career Fair on March 19 will connect students with organizations focused on service and community impact, while Science Unwrapped on March 20 invites the public to explore science through an engaging talk about bees and family-friendly, hands-on activities. All are welcome.
Organizers say the inaugural ArtSci Week is about more than a single series of events — it’s about celebrating the people and ideas that define the college. Cottrell said this very thing was on her mind as they were planning Collage Night.
“It is a fun craft event with materials seeking to appeal to all ArtSci students. It will be cool to allow everyone to create with pieces from their respective elements while still bringing everyone together as a college for a good time,” she said.
