$150,000 in Agricultural Research Grants Now Available
Utah Commissioner of Agriculture and Food, Leonard Blackham, has announced phase two of the Miles “Cap” Ferry Agricultural Research Grant Fund. The grants will fund research projects that would enhance or have a practical application for Utah agriculture.
A total of $150,000 in grants is currently available for projects that can be completed by June 30, 2013.
“Our intent is to stimulate research that can benefit a broad spectrum of the agriculture industry,” said Commissioner Blackham. “We encourage applications for projects in areas such as economics, education, irrigation, conservation and resource management, animal or plant health, invasive weed control, food safety and food processing. The possibilities seem endless.”
Applications for the grants are due by May 15, 2012, to Deputy Commissioner Kyle Stephens at the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (kylestephens@utah.gov).

Miles “Cap” Ferry served in the Utah State Legislature in both the House and Senate. He was the Senate Minority Whip, Senate Minority Leader and President of the Senate. He served as the Utah Commissioner of Agriculture from 1985 to 1993.
