Aggie Football Family Fun Day Set For Saturday, August 27
Utah State University’s sixth-annual Aggie Football Family Fun Day, sponsored by Macey's Foods, will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at Merlin Olsen Field at Romney Stadium in conjunction with the USU football scrimmage. The event provides fans a chance to meet USU football players and coaches, participate in games and activities as well as pickup season tickets.
Two Wasatch Front Football League (WFFL) youth games start the day's action, kicking off at 8:15 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Fans can also sign up for 2011 Jr. Aggies at the sign-up table located inside gates on the south concourse. Cost for Jr. Aggies is $25 and is open to kids currently attending pre-school through 8th grade.
Games and activities will get started on the South Concourse of Romney Stadium at 11 a.m., while USU football's scrimmage gets underway at noon.
Following the scrimmage, fans can get their favorite Aggie autographs and play catch with a USU player on the field. There is no cost to attend the event and everyone is welcome to meet the Aggies, head coach Gary Andersen and the Utah State coaching staff that afternoon.
Season tickets as well as two-game packages will be also available for purchase at the USU Football Family Fun Day Saturday, Aug. 27, at the Romney Stadium Box Office, located on the south end of Romney Stadium. Season tickets will also be available for pickup for fans who ordered reserved west or east side season tickets prior to July 31 as well as anyone who purchased general admission, Junior Aggie, or family plan tickets. Fans who ordered reserved west or east side season tickets after Aug. 1 will need to pick up their tickets from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Ticket Office the week of the first home game beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6.
DownEast Home & Clothing will also be at Aggie Football Family Fun Day with a big tent sale set up on the south concourse.
Fans are reminded to enter Romney Stadium through the southwest entrance and to park in the west parking lot. Parking for the event is free. For more information, contact the Utah State Athletics Department at (435) 797-1850.
The Aggies return 46 letterwinners (29 offense, 16 defense, one special teams), including 17 starters (10 offense, six defense, one special teams), from last season's 4-8 overall mark, and 2-6 in WAC play, in Andersen's second season at the helm of the Aggie program.
After its season-opener at Auburn Saturday, Sept. 3, Utah State's home opener is Saturday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. (MT), taking on in-state foe Weber State, marking the first time that USU and WSU have squared off since 2001, and Utah State leads the all-time series, 11-1. The Aggie-Wildcat match-up will have special meaning for Andersen, who will be facing his mentor, Weber State head coach Ron McBride. Andersen played for McBride at Utah in 1985-86.
