Aggie Football Signs Quarterback
Utah State [University] football head coach Gary Andersen announced that quarterback Michael Chislock has signed to compete for the Aggies, joining the 2012 USU signing class.
Chislock, who is 6-4, 195 pounds, is a native of Huntington Beach, Calif. Last season at Huntington Beach HS, he threw for 2,505 yards (208.8 ypg) with 29 TDs and only five INTs, while also rushing for 417 yards and scoring six TDs. He led the Sunset League in passing yards and total offense (243.5 ypg), earning the Sunset League Offensive Back of the Year award, in helping the Oilers to a 9-3 overall record and 4-1 Sunset mark, where they reached the Pac-5 Division quarterfinals. Chislock had three games with over 300 yards passing, including a season-high 388 in game against Aliso Niguel HS, throwing for five TDs, one of five games with three or more TD tosses. His top rushing outing of the season was 105 yards on nine carries (11.7 ypc) with a season-long of 54 yards against Corona del Mar HS, one of four games with 50 or more rushing yards.
“We’ve been looking for an additional quarterback for our signing class, and he was still available,” Andersen said. “He came here on a visit with his family and felt comfortable with our team, our university and our community. We feel he is a great fit and great new addition to our program. It gives us our needed added depth at the quarterback position and helps us be as strong as we can be at every position.”
The son of Cindy and Michael Chislock, Sr., the younger Chislock is undecided on major at Utah State, but chose USU because of the coaching staff along with the campus and community environment, and the program’s up-and-coming status.
