Aggies Number Two Seed at 2005 Big West Tournament/Spencer Nelson is an All American with Hustle
The Utah State University Aggies, ranked number two going into the Big West Tournament, will play the highest remaining seed at the tournament. Tip off is 9:30 p.m. (MST), Friday, March 11. Broadcast from the Anaheim Convention Center Arena, the game can be heard on the Aggie Radio Network (locally on KVNU radio, 610 AM).

Spencer Nelson Named Big West Conference Hustle Player of the Year
Senior forward has now won the award in each of the last three seasons.

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's Spencer Nelson was named the Big West Conference Hustle Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, it was announced Tuesday [March 8] by the league office. Nelson also won the honor in 2004 as a junior and shared the award with UC Santa Barbara's Nick Jones as a sophomore in 2003. The award is voted on by the league's 10 coaches.
Nelson, a 6-8 senior forward from Pocatello, Idaho, is averaging 16.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game, and is shooting 61.4 percent from the field and 78.5 percent from the free throw line. Nelson ranks first in the Big West Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.93), second in rebounding and field goal percentage, third in scoring and assists, and fifth in free throw percentage. He is also the only player in the country to average at least 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
Nelson was also named a CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major All-American on Tuesday [March 8] and a first-team all-Big West selection on Monday [March 7] after earning second-team all-league honors as a junior and honorable mention all-league honors as a sophomore.
The Big West Conference also announced two other Specialty Awards on Tuesday [March 8], as Cal State Northridge's Ian Boylan was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and UC Riverside's Larry Cunningham was named the Sixth Man of the Year.

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's basketball player Spencer Nelson was named a Mid-Major All-American by CollegeInsider.com it was announced on Tuesday [March 8] after leading the Aggies to a 22-7 overall record and a second-place finish in the Big West Conference with a 13-5 league record. The award is voted on by Division I head coaches and assistant coaches.
Nelson was also named a first-team all-Big West selection on Monday [March 7] after earning second-team all-league honors as a junior and honorable mention all-league honors as a sophomore.
Nelson is one of 21 players from across the country to earn CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major All-America honors.
