Aggies to Meet BYU for First Time Since 2002

Sept. 18, 2006

QUICKLY — Utah State (0-3, 0-0 WAC) will resume its series with Brigham Young (1-2, 0-0 MWC) when the two teams meet at Provo on Saturday [Sept. 23] at 1 p.m. in a game televised on The mtn. The teams, which have met 76 times in history, have not played since 2002 when the Cougars recovered from a 34-7 halftime deficit to win 35-34 at Logan. USU will be playing on the road for the third time in its first four games. USU will be looking to avoid an 0-4 start as the last time that happened was 2001 (USU actually lost its first five games before winning four straight). After playing Utah last week, the Aggies are playing back-to-back games against in-state opponents for the first time since 2000 when USU lost 35-14 at home against Utah and lost 38-14 at BYU in successive weeks (the Aggies then opened league play the next week, just like this year, and won four straight games). USU is 0-2 on the road this year as well as 1-7 away from home in the Brent Guy era.
