Activities in Old Main, a building on Utah State University's Logan campus, are resuming as normal after law enforcement officers responded to a report of a suspicious device.

Around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, a suspicious device was found near the exterior of Old Main.

University and local law enforcement were dispatched to the scene, and an evacuation for the building was ordered. The university notified students and employees via its Aggie Alert system.

Officers located the device and deemed it to be non-explosive. Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad detonated the device.

An all-clear was issued at 3:45 p.m., and activity in the building was allowed to resume as normal.

The situation is under investigation, and we expect to provide more information in the coming days. At this time, we do not believe it was an intentional threat or related to the TPUSA event.

The university posts updates during emergencies to usu.edu/emergency.

Campus security is currently heightened as the university, working with local, state and federal partners, takes several precautions for a Turning Point USA event hosted by a registered student club.
