Avoiding Egg Drop Soup
Developing ways to drop an egg from a tall building without breaking it is an effective way to learn about the physics of motion, gravity, force and velocity. USU physicist J.R. Dennison says the classic experiment is an excellent hands-on activity for understanding spring action, cushioning and shock absorption. Research on these principles has enhanced car bumpers, athletic shoes and prosthetic limbs.

Witness the famous egg drop experiment on Monday, March 20, at noon, from the north side of the Eccles Science Learning Center (TSC patio) on the USU campus during the 2006 celebration of USU Science Week.
