USU alum and award-winning fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra visited Utah State University’s Logan campus on March 24 and 25, where he reconnected with former advisers, mentors, faculty, friends and family.
During his stay in Logan, Mohapatra met with advanced costume construction students, as well as with the Entrepreneur Leadership Series class, to share his story and his experiences.
Caine College of the Arts hosted "A Conversation with Bibhu," which was followed by a reception to celebrate an exhibition opening of Bibhu's works at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art — which will be on display until Saturday, April 2.
He was accompanied by his two cousins, Sarita Mohapatra and Sanjeev Misra, both of whom also attended Utah State. Bibhu credits them with introducing him to USU, and supporting and encouraging him during his time in Logan. It was the first time Bibhu returned to campus since he left for New York City in 1999. Mohapatra has dressed the likes of actresses Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and former first lady Michelle Obama.
