Bruins Named Big West Softball Co-Pitcher Of The Week

Jill Bruins went 2-0 with a save this past weekend in leading the Aggies to a three-game series sweep of Cal State Fullerton.

Utah State freshman Jill Bruins was named the Big West Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in leading the Aggies to a three-game series sweep of Cal State Fullerton this past weekend (April 3-4). Bruins shared the honor with Lindsey Herrin of UC Santa Barbara.

Bruins is the first Utah State softball player to earn Big West honors since Breanne Smith was selected as the Big West Player of the Week in 2002. She is also the first Aggie pitcher to be honored since Lisa Spencer was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week in 2001.

Bruins won two games and picked up her first save of the season against the four-time defending Big West Conference champions. With Utah State's first win on Saturday, Bruins helped the Aggies halt a 13-game losing streak to the Titans dating back to May 2, 1999.
