Cartwright-Davis Named Big West Conference Volleyball Player Of The Week

The senior middle blocker had a career-weekend against Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside.

Erin CartwrightUtah State volleyball player Erin Cartwright-Davis was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Cartwright-Davis also won USU's Athlete of the Week award.

Cartwright-Davis, a senior middle blocker from Hyrum, Utah led the Aggies to a 2-0 record last week with wins against Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside. The two wins helped USU improve to 12-7 on the season and 5-4 in the Big West.

Against Cal State Fullerton she recorded career highs in kills (33) and digs (25), and hit .338. Against UC Riverside she hit a career-high .667 with 17 kills and added eight digs and three blocks. For the week she averaged 6.25 kills, 4.12 digs and 0.50 blocks per game while hitting .427.

It is the third time in the last two years Cartwright-Davis has been named Big West Player of the Week as she won the award twice during the 2002 season. It is also the ninth time in the last three years that a Utah State student-athlete has received Player of the Week honors from the Big West Conference, and the second time this season as Zuzana Cernianska received the honor on Sept. 1.
