E-Day at Utah State — $7,000 in Cash Prizes to Hopeful Entrepreneurs
The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO club) is holding Entrepreneur Day March 31-April 1. Included in the event will be an elevator-pitch competition, with $7,000 in cash prizes awarded to finalists. The event will be held at 3 p.m. in the Eccles Conference Center at Utah State University.
Applications are available at any of the copy centers on campus, or at the College of Business dean’s office. Applications must be submitted by Monday, March 27, to the dean’s office.
In the elevator-pitch competition, contestants must pitch their business idea in two minutes or less to a panel of three judges. Applications must include three copies of the elevator-pitch summary. The judges will then review the applications and select 10-20 finalists who will present their elevator pitch in person to the panel of judges and audience in attendance. $7,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to the top five finalists.
Friday’s activities include a keynote speaker at 9 a.m. and three break-out sessions throughout the day, in which entrepreneurs will meet with students to tell their success stories and give advice to prospective entrepreneurs. There will also be opportunities for selected students to have meals with successful local entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to interact and share ideas on a personal basis.
Entrepreneurs attending will include: Gary Anderson from Stephens Cocoa, Blake Kirby from Inovar, Dave Anderson from vSpring Capital, and Bob Murray from Alpine Confections. Saturday’s activity includes site visits and tours of three companies in Cache Valley, Ogden and Salt Lake City.
