Fan Vote for USU Football Quarterback Chuckie Keeton Now Open

Utah State [University] football fans can vote for Aggie sophomore quarterback Chuckie Keeton for the Davey O'Brien Award. The Davey O'Brien Foundation announced that the Davey O'Brien Fan Vote is now open. Fans are invited to cast their vote for the nation's best college quarterback as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org.

Keeton is one of 124 quarterbacks who are candidates for the award. The Davey O'Brien Foundation will announce the semifinalists for the award in October and fans can vote until Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. MT. The fan vote counts at five percent during each round of voting.

A native of Houston, Texas (Cypress Creek HS), Keeton opened the 2012 season by setting a single-game school record, completing 88.0 percent of his passes, in leading Utah State to a convincing 34-3 season-opening home win against Southern Utah Thursday night [Aug. 30]. Keeton, who played just three quarters, was 22-of-25 passing for a career-high 304 yards and two touchdowns. Those 22 completions were also a career-high. Overall, he was the first 300-yard passer for USU since 2010.

After the first week of play, Keeton ranks second in the Western Athletic Conference and sixth nationally in passing efficiency (208.5), second in the WAC and tied for 15th nationally in passing yards per game (304.0), and second in the WAC and 22nd nationally in total offense (307.00).

Keeton and the Aggies return to action Friday, Sept. 7, hosting in-state rival Utah in a nationally televised game on ESPN2 at 6 p.m.
