G'Day Mate: Utah State's Women's Basketball Team Is Australia Bound
May 3, 2005
LOGAN, Utah — Kangaroos, the Great Barrier Reef, the Sydney Opera House and, oh yeah, some basketball will all be on tap as Utah State's women's basketball team heads to Australia for a 12-day basketball tour beginning May 20.
"This is a great opportunity for us to prepare for our move into the Western Athletic Conference," said head coach Raegan Pebley. "We will have the chance to implement key components of both our offense and defense and then be able to practice them against some very tough competition."
The Aggies have four games on their slate, playing the Australian National Team twice while in Sydney, then traveling to Brisbane to face the Southern District Spartans and to Cairns to square-off against the Cairns Dolphins.
"We hope to also build our team chemistry on this trip and to have a leg up on the other teams in the conference heading into next season," Pebley added.
In addition to its basketball agenda, the team will visit such sites as the Sydney Opera House, the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns and the beaches of Brisbane.
