Green Beam

The USU “green beam” will illuminate the Cache Valley night sky this summer after a two-year absence. Known formally as the Rayleigh Scatter Lidar, the device measures atmospheric temperature wind and temperature by examining the air’s density. USU researchers received funding from the U.S. Air Force and National Science Foundation for the beam.
