Hidden Gems from USU Eastern's Permanent Collection on View in September
The exhibit, titled "Hidden Gems," is comprised of works which have been acquired and placed in the college's art collection holdings from the time of the school’s founding (as Carbon College) in 1937.
PRICE, Utah — A selection of artwork from Utah State University Eastern’s permanent art collection will be on view in Gallery East in Price from Sept. 2-26.
The exhibit, titled “Hidden Gems,” is comprised of works which have been acquired and placed in the college’s art collection holdings from the time of the school’s founding as Carbon College in 1937.
Gallery director Noel Carmack characterizes the work as some of the finest from artists who have created art in Utah or displayed at the college over the many decades of its existence. Gallery visitors may recognize some of the artists represented in the exhibit as art professors, local artists and regional artists of renown.
Visitors will see paintings, photographs, fine art prints and ceramic pieces by artists including art educators Harrison Groutage, Adrian Van Suchtelen, Marion R. Hyde and John Neeley. The work of local artists and educators Lynn Fausett, Marie Fausett, Cliff Bergera, Brent Haddock and James Young will be on display as well.
“We are pleased that the college possesses such a rich and varied collection of artwork from local and regional talent,” Carmack said.
While some works are on display in offices and hallways on campus, other pieces (of necessity) are kept in locked storage.
“This exhibit gives us a chance to share some of these ‘hidden gems’ with our students and the public,” Carmack said.
Other artists represented in this exhibit will feature some of the college’s more recent acquisitions, including work by Joe Peterson (former Chancellor of USUE), Jean Arnold, Anna Evans, Jason Huntzinger, Holly Cobb and Michelle Montrose Larsen.
A reception has not been planned for this exhibition, but visitors are welcome.
The gallery is free and open to the public during the academic year. Gallery East’s Fall 2025 hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Closed weekends and holidays.
