Nic Bowens and Chari Hawkins Compete at 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships

Utah State [University] seniors Nic Bowens and Chari Hawkins represent the Aggies at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14, at the Randal Tyson Track Center hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.

Bowens will compete in the 200m semi-final Friday at 7:15 p.m. (MT) with the 200m final held Saturday at 6:50 p.m. (MT). Action in the pentathlon begins Saturday for Hawkins at 10:30 a.m. (MT) with the 60m hurdles and is scheduled to wrap up with the 800m at 3:35 p.m. (MT).

“We’re excited for Nic and Chari to showcase their talents on a national stage,” said USU head coach Gregg Gensel. “They have worked hard all winter and we are very excited to see what they can accomplish this weekend.”

Two weeks ago at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, Bowens won the 200m with a school and conference record time of 20.80 and was named the Outstanding Performer of the Meet for the second year in a row.

Bowens enters the NCAA Indoor Championships ranked 14th in the nation in the 200m.

Hawkins posted a score of 4,194 points to win the pentathlon at the Mountain West Indoor Championships for the second-straight year where she broke her own school and conference meet record set the year before. Additionally, Hawkins was recently named the Mountain Region Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Hawkins enters the NCAA Indoor Championships ranked 11th in the nation in the pentathlon.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live March 13 and 14 starting at 7 p.m. ET. A tape delay of the championship will air March 23 starting at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
