October 13 Discussion: Space Technology and Solutions for Tech Challenges

Utah State University’s office of Commercialization and Regional Development welcomes NASA’s Preston Carter in a presentation about new approaches for NASA’s future space missions. The presentation is Thursday, Oct. 13, at 9 a.m., at the Riverwoods Conference Center in downtown Logan. The USU hosted event is free and open to the public and is presented by SynergyFDM and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership. Time is available during the presentation for questions and answers.

Carter is director of NASA’s Game Changing Technology division. The Game Changing Technology division focuses on maturing advanced space technologies that may lead to entirely new approaches for the agency’s future space missions and solutions to significant national needs. The two programs in this division, the Game Changing Development Program and the Small Satellite Subsystems Technologies Program, determine the feasibility of novel ideas and approaches that have the potential to revolutionize future space missions.

Carter is an aerospace engineer with extensive experience in aerospace systems with a 30-plus year background in diverse areas, including development of advanced concepts, research and development, project management, hardware design, manufacturing, testing, operations and customer support. The majority of his experience has been in systems related to space vehicles, advanced aeronautical vehicles, high-speed flight and propulsion.
