Over 100 Attend USU Salt Lake Center Graduation Party
More than 100 friends, families, graduates, staff and faculty gathered to celebrate USU Salt Lake Center’s 2019 graduating class. More than 400 students graduated, ranging from certificates to doctorate degrees.
David Vernon, associate vice president of the Wasatch Region, addressed the graduating class at the event. “All of you have a powerful story of persistence, sacrifice, and hard work that was fueled by your hope for a better future. You have all successfully traveled on a noble journey and I wish you a prosperous future.”
Student speaker Colin A. Lyman followed Vernon, and discussed how the graduates can build on their educational foundation for a better future. “Our journey isn’t over. We move on to new jobs, new challenges, new problems, and new opportunities to learn from. These opportunities may still be difficult. We still may have late nights, and we may still need to do research to find the answers, but the hope is that we can take what we’ve accomplished here and use it in the future.”
After Lyman, Erik Mikkelsen, USU Alumni Advisory Board member, spoke about how graduates can apply what they have learned in college toward new aspects of life, and continue learning to achieve new heights.
The USU Alumni Association also attended the event, bringing games and activities for the graduates and their families. Big Blue was also there and took photos with the attendees.
