President Albrecht Throws First Pitch in Softball Home Opener
After playing the first 23 games on the road, the Utah State University softball team returned to Logan April 2 for a double-header home opening against Long Beach State. President Stan Albrecht met with the team and threw out the first pitch.
Albrecht visited the team and coaches prior to the game.
Utah State’s softball team is coached by Lonny Sargent, who is assisted by Todd Bradley. Sargent was named Utah State’s head softball coach on July 26, 2004 after serving one year as the assistant to Debbie Bilbao. Sargent came from Troy State where he served as an assistant coach for the Lady Trojans. He has more than 14 years coaching experience, from the high school level to the major college levels.
Todd Bradley is a new addition to the coaching staff this season. Hired Aug. 5, 2004, to fill Sargent's assistant coach spot, Bradley has five seasons of coaching experience under his belt. He was hired from Western Baptist College ( Salem, Ore.), where he started the softball program and served as head coach. Under Bradley’s direction the Warriors were 20-25 and nearly qualified for the NAIA Regional Tournament in their infant season.
