September is National Suicide Prevention Month

By Julene Reese |

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Utah State University Extension has a wealth of resources for mental health and suicide prevention awareness.

Dave Schramm, USU Extension family life professor, (David.schramm@usu.edu) recently produced nine short videos on suicide prevention geared for teachers, administrators, students and parents. The link to the videos can be found at https://tinyurl.com/preventvideos.

Extension has a mental health education website at https://extension.usu.edu/aware/. Included are articles and webinar links on self-care, helping those with mental health challenges and suicide prevention.

In addition is the Health Extension: Advocacy, Research and Teaching Initiative, also known as HEART, which partners locally and nationally to address the opioid epidemic and other pressing public health issues. Information can be found at https://extension.usu.edu/heart/.

Those with questions, or special requests, are encouraged to contact USU Extension family life professor David Schramm.
