The Aggies Are Going Bowling, All Invited to Potato Bowl Dec. 17

The Utah State University Aggies are headed to the 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 3:30 p.m. MST at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho to face off against Ohio University.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is the second game of the entire bowl calendar and the only one in its timeslot. The Bowl will be telecast nationally on ESPN and broadcast on ESPN Radio. Five of the previous seven Famous Idaho Potato Bowl games have been decided on the last drive, with an average score of 38-25 over the past 15 Bowls.

USU became bowl eligible with the Aggies’ fourth-straight win and sixth overall on the season with a 21-17 victory against Nevada on Saturday, making USU bowl eligible for the first time since 1997. It was the Aggies’ sixth win of the season, earning their first six-win ledger since 1997.

“It is a great day to be an Aggie. Coach Gary Andersen, his staff and student-athletes have continued to believe and I'm delighted that they have been rewarded for their efforts,” said USU Athletic Director Scott Barnes. “Gary has built a strong foundation for our program that will only continue to improve. The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is a great next step in the process.”
